What is NOLA Over the Edge: SWAT Edition?
NOLA Over the Edge (NOLAOTE) is a unique fundraising venture in which participants raise funds/pledges (a minimum of $1,000) in exchange for a once-in-a-lifetime experience to RAPPEL 25 stories down NOLA's Benson Tower, RIDE in a helicopter & SWAT Train with Louisiana's finest at the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Training Facility, while raising much needed funds for Special Olympics Louisiana athletes!
Each participant receives a pre-assigned time for their rappel so you can invite your friends to cheer you on!
Is it safe?
Yes, absolutely! You’ll be supported every step of the way with a professional climbing instructor who provides event staff to completely run the rappelling event from start to finish. OSHA certified and set up as an industrial work site.
Who Can go Over the Edge?
Anyone can go Over the Edge! No Climbing Experience Required! Participants must raise a minimum of $1,000 to rappel. Participants must weigh between 110 and 300lbs.
Why should I participate?
You will not only get the experience of a lifetime, but you will also help thousands of Special Olympics Louisiana athletes. Athletes have gained self confidence, athletic ability, friendships and empowerment through Special Olympics programs.

Must wear tennis shoes, no shorts, no tank tops, and long hair must be tied back.
Are encouraged, but please NO capes!

Gear On: 25 mins
Practice Rappel: 20 mins
25 Story Rappel: 20 mins
Gear Off: 10 mins
Shuttle to Helipad: 2 mins
Ride to SWAT: 15 mins
SWAT Training: 60 mins
Copter ride to dome: 15 mins
Shuttle back to Square: 2 mins
Check Out: 5 mins

Professional photographers will be in attendance.
We will provide area to store your personal effects at check-in.
